What are some ways other churches
have used the Ministry Area Profile?
When you’re ready to do any planning for ministry, a Ministry Area Profile is a great place to start. Here are some specific ways that churches have used it:
1) Educating new pastor or pastoral staff
on the area;
2) Making decisions about hiring new pastoral staff;
3) Focusing evangelism efforts and strategizing outreach programs;
4) Targeting neighborhoods for different age
group ministries;
5) Identifying needs to address in support groups, or cell group ministries;
6) Developing sermons, teaching and programs that are relevant to the needs of people in the area;
7) Confirming or changing many of the costly decisions that have to be made with a building program;
8) Making long-range decisions about the church’s place in a changing community;
9) Choosing a new building site; and,
10) In support of a fund-raising campaign.
How can we justify this
purchase to others?
The ultimate value of the Ministry Area Profile goes way beyond the 3-ring binder full of paper and overhead transparencies. The primary reason for the existence of the Ministry Area Profile in the church, and the reason for its success thousands of times over, is that it stimulates and informs an adjustment in the direction of ministry. First, it confronts and engages you with who the people outside the doors of your church really are. It’s a catalyst for a new sense of mission to the community. Secondly, it helps you "tune" your ministry closer to the needs of these people. We are so confident that you’ll discover the value in the Ministry Area Profile that we offer an unprecedented 30-Day Money Back Guarantee.
Where does the information come
from — can we rely on it?
Percept has carefully selected and developed data sources with the highest reputation for reliability and accuracy. The information in your Ministry Area Profile originates from several sources: The U.S. Census Bureau, Claritas, Wharton Econometric Forecasting Associates (WEFA), and Percept's own Ethos data base. Claritas is the leading demographic supplier in the country. They combine accurate GEOGRAPHIC data with CENSUS data and UPDATE data from WEFA, to provide an integrated demographic profile of any area in the U.S., from block level to national. Ethos data originates from the largest survey data base of religious attitudes and behaviors in the United States, exclusive to Percept, and only available in Percept information products.
How should we select
appropriate InfoMaps?
You should select InfoMap themes that relate to specific groups of people that you want to "pinpoint", or locate, within your total ministry area. In other words, the InfoMaps can show you locations within your area where there are concentrations of particular people. For instance, if you order the African-American InfoMap (#2), it will show you where within your area the highest levels of African-American households are. The InfoMap Menu offers 135 additional themes. If you would prefer not to make any specific selections, simply leave the InfoMap section on the Order Form blank. We will include a set of InfoMaps that give you a good introduction and overview of your ministry area. You may choose to order additional InfoMaps after you receive your Profile.
How long does it take for us to
receive our MinistryArea Profile?
It normally takes 2 weeks or less for you to receive your Ministry Area Profile from the time Percept receives your order. If you are paying by check, we will wait until we receive a check to process your order. The quickest way to start your order is to fill in the online Order Form and include credit card information. As an option, you may download and print a copy of the Order Form (PDF file requires Adobe Acrobat Reader) and fax it to us with a credit card number.

RUSH SERVICE If you have to receive your Ministry Area Profile in less than 2 weeks, there is a RUSH SERVICE available for a $75 charge. The minimum turnaround is 3 days from receipt of your order with this additional charge. Be sure to indicate, under Rush Service in the Payment Section of the Order Form, exactly what date you need to receive your MinistryArea Profile by.

Will we have to purchase a
Ministry Area Profile again when we
want to update our information?
Once you purchase a Ministry Area Profile you will have an opportunity to receive a completely "refreshed" MinistryArea Profile at a very low cost. It will include the latest information, any new features that have been added, and 6 InfoMaps. We recommend refreshing your Profile at least every two years. To keep up with constantly changing local conditions we update current demographic data and 5-year projections in the Profile twice a year.
