How To Select A
POLYGON Ministry Area Boundary |
DEFINITION: A Polygon is simply a closed area
bounded
by several lines. |
If you have a pre-defined ministry area such as a
parish boundary or the area you want to study isn't well defined by either a RADIUS BOUNDARY or a ZIP CODE BOUNDARY, you may want to
provide us with a POLYGON BOUNDARY, which is a lot simpler than it sounds. Just open a
well detailed road map (available at auto clubs and most gas stations) that includes the
total area you want to study and draw a closed
boundary (no opened sides) with a high- lighter
(transparent colored marker), so that we can easily see it. This will be your POLYGON
BOUNDARY. The study will be limited to the people that live within this area. You should
try to use existing lines, such as roads, highways, rivers and coastlines, to draw on if
you can. This just makes it easier for us to duplicate the boundary that you draw. |

| As you can see, there are several options
for defining the area you want study. Each one is simple. And, there are no bad choices,
because either option will tell you a lot about the people you have an opportunity to
serve and point you in the right direction. |
