A Block is
normally a well-defined rectangular piece of land bordered by four streets The 1990 Census
was the first in which data is available by block for the entire nation. A block may also
be irregular in shape or bordered by railroad tracks, streams, or other features. Blocks,
by definition, do not cross the boundaries of counties, census tracts or block groups.
However, they may cross place boundaries (e.g., a city or town). |
